Those missing the Discovery Channel’s “Planet Green” August airings of the Natural Resources Defense Council’s ocean acidification film can catch the 21-minute piece at acidtestmovie.com.

Narrated by actress Sigourney Weaver and including segments with leading oceanographers and scientists such as Ken Caldeira, of the Carnegie Institution for Science’s Department of Global Ecology, the film promotes ocean acidification as “one of the most pernicious, but least known, impacts of the build-up of CO2.” Calling ocean acidification “the other carbon problem,” the film forecasts “devastating impacts” for some ocean species.

A feature on ocean acidification research and monitoring efforts, written by freelance writer Mark Schrope, is posted here as part of the September 25, 2009, Yale Forum update.
